Catherine Mackey
Biography

Catherine’s studio is in an old mayonnaise factory overlooking a bus depot in the Mission district of San Francisco. This positioning is apt when considering the urban and architectural subject matter of the work she has completed during the last 15 years.

She is a self-taught artist. After receiving her BA honors degree in Interior Architecture at Manchester University in England she spent 14 years working and teaching in the field of commercial interior architecture in London before moving to the US to follow her dream of being a painter. While she left behind a world of corporate design, project management, and budgets she brought with her an abiding fascination for the built environment.

Within a few years of first picking up a paintbrush Catherine was represented by a San-Francisco gallery and her work was selling to purchasers from across the US and Europe. She has a cultured and architecturally-aware collector base and her paintings have been seen in art publications, films, and local arts documentaries. She is represented by galleries and brokers in San Francisco and New York.
